Summary of: Kyle, G., Absher, J., & Chancellor, C. (2005). Segmenting forest recreationists using their commitment profiles. Journal of Park and Recreation Administration, 23(2), 64-86.
Study:
This study “explored the utility of an agency commitment scale designed to measure recreationists’ attachment to public leisure service providers and their service offerings” (Kyle et al 2005).
Findings:
- It makes more sense for public leisure providers to examine the intensity and objective of the meanings recreationist associate with their facility they manage.
- Nurturing the recreationists trust in the agency or facility to properly manage in a manner that follows their own interests and ideals is essential.
- Additionally, having agency partners permits easier implementation of controversial policies.
